Upon reaching the age of majority, youth in care may enter into voluntary agreement to receive extended services to assist them as they transition to adulthood.
We encourage youth to be actively engaged in decision-making about their long-term goals and to identify any barriers they may face to assist in a successful journey in adulthood. The transitional youth workers aim is to support our youth/young adults overcome barriers such as education and/or employment, housing etc. We advocate and facilitate access to community support that helps youth manage these challenges.
To support the youth, our unit helps with on-site basic needs such as hygiene products and clothes. We also have a food pantry should our youth need emergency food items or want to come in and prepare a meal.
